Our first trip of 2019 will, excitingly, be our first joint trip for a while. We’ll be taking 20 members to join 20 University of London mountaineering club members at their hut, Caseg Fraith, in the heart of Snowdonia.
The hut has three big dorms, an open fire, a fantastic view of the Ogwen Valley, and is perfectly located for rock climbing, bouldering, scrambling and walking. We'll be offering all manner of such activities throughout the weekend, along with classic LUMC shenanigans and a fantastic social atmosphere! If it’s cold enough there may even be some exciting winter activities on the books.
Remember you must have LUMC membership to come on the trip!
We will be asking which activities, you would prefer to do. Please be aware that because of the weather and leader availability we are not able to guarantee that you can do all the activities you wish - but we'll try our best!
If you wish to climb on this trip you must have attended an Awesome Walls session/ be confident at lead belaying and have climbing shoes to wear.
KIT
Its mid-winter so the days are short and the weather will be very cold, so without sufficient kit you will NOT be allowed to participate in any activities. We will be strict on this!
You MUST have the following kit to be allowed out of the hut:
Head torch
Survival Bag
Waterproofs - jacket and trousers
Warm clothes (lots of layers)
Walking boots (not trainers)
Climbing shoes (you will not be allowed to climb in trainers)
Hat and gloves
Water bottle
A day sack in which to carry it all (a waterproof liner is also a good idea)
You will also need to bring:
Sleeping bag and pillow
Toiletries
Spare warm clothes (especially socks!)
Second pair of shoes/trainers
Optional if you have them:
Any climbing gear you have (harnesses, helmets etc.)
B2 Mountaineering Boots (BRING IF YOU OWN THEM – those with b2 will be able to participate in activities requiring crampons)
Compass and map
Cash for the pub
FOOD
We'll be cooking Friday and Saturday evening meals as one big group. Breakfasts and lunches individually. We will stop en-route on the Friday night at a big supermarket for supplies.
If you've any questions ask on the Facebook event. Please do not send personal messages as they might go into the abyss of the 'other' box and other members will not benefit.
