Fresher's Walking Trip

Lake District

Our Fresher's walking trip will take us to the Helvellyn range set in the east of the beautiful Lake District. This is trip is suitable for absolute beginners and experts alike, we will have a range of routes which will vary in difficulty so all skills sets will be accommodated and everyone is guaranteed a great time! After a good day's walking we stop off at one of the many fine pubs in the area to quench our thirst!
 

Kit list includes 

-Boots (trainers are inaqaqute for this type of rocky terrain)
-Waterproof Jacket 
-Waterproof trousers
-Hat and gloves
-Warm Layers (It may only be Septmeber, but do not underestimate how cold it gets up in the Hills)
- AT LEAST 1 litre of fluid (either water or sqush) 
-Lunch and snacks
-Headtorch ( Winter is coming) 
A bag to store your kit in (I also recommmend to those new to mountaineering to line the inside of thier rucksack with a with a bin liner to keep its contents dry) 
- A survivial or bivy bag- (these are inexpensive and could save your life, they can be bought for as little as £2:39 on amazon,or at most outdoor shops)

Please make sure you have this kit, it is mandatory your safety. If for some reason you are unable to get all of the listed equipment then please let us know ASAP. We do not carry spares so telling us on the day isn't helpful, but with some prior warning we can probably sort you out.

We will aim to be back in Liverpool by 8pm

Other useful information:
Unfortunately, we can't control the weather. Please make sure you consider very wet weather, as with the right clothing you can still enjoy the day!

Whilst club members are happy to offer advice and share their knowledge with less experienced members, please be aware that most of us do not have any formal qualifications for instructing.

Finally, a statement from the BMC:
